A recipe is a starting point.

I love to cook—and I rarely leave a recipe alone. A few changes, a taste, another idea. Sometimes I even remember to write it down.

Colorful vegetables and ingredients ready for cooking

Room for another idea. And another person at the table.

Good food. Good company.

I’m not completely vegetarian or vegan, but I often make recipes that way. I also adapt dishes without gluten or dairy so my niece can enjoy them with us. Coconut milk, pea protein milk, and oat milk all have a place in my kitchen.

Tony and I go out to restaurants with friends, cook for friends, and happily accept invitations from friends who cook for us. I love food and the company that comes with it.

Here’s where I’ll share the versions worth making again, the substitutions that worked, and meals worth talking about.

Smoky Lentil & White Bean Chili

Lentils, cannellini beans, roasted poblano, and plenty of vegetables. Thick, hearty, and a little smoky—with room for the cook to have an opinion.

Restaurants worth returning to

Appetizers, wine, dinners with friends, and restaurant discoveries worth sharing.

The recipe notebook is just beginning. Recipes and restaurant stories will appear as I cook, visit, and take notes. Photograph shown is a design reference.
